Death of a Diva
Sweat rolled down her back. She’d never felt pain like this before. She didn’t know if she’d been shot or stabbed; maybe both.
“Is this all you have?” his dark eyes pierced holes in her face.
She hesitated. Why should she give him everything of value to her? If he was going to kill her, she wouldn’t make it easy for him. She would go down fighting until the very end.
He stepped toward her, leading with his weapon. “Trying to hold out on me will only make things worse for you. Have some dignity, and do what I say.”
She returned his stare, but only for a moment. She didn’t have a choice. There was nowhere for her to hide and no way to defend herself. She’d run out of options. She was trapped. Hot tears streamed down her cheeks.
Succumbing to his demand was the only way. Reluctantly, she dug into her designer bag and handed her husband the two credit cards she tried to hoard away. The tears came fast and furious as she watched him stand over the trash can and cut them into little pieces.
