Stinky Is Good In A Garden Of Lies

Gracie remembered it well. The Blackmail Box was what Patience called it. She would flaunt the knowledge of that box around like it was worth a million bucks.
“The little town of Greenstone is chock-full ‘o secrets, and I know most of them.” She smiled at Gracie. “And guess where I put them. That’s right, in my keepsake box.”
Gracie was so angry. Every birthday, grade card and Christmas, she would circle in red marker the keepsake box she longed for. It was so beautiful. Powder pink trimmed with clear stones, and a beautiful pink and green tourmaline rose on top. She had so many plans for it; what her wedding gown would look like, the type of home she wanted. Important things, things she was sure her mother would be proud she wanted to collect. But she never got it. Instead, it was the extra present that awaited Patience when they returned home from her extravagant Sweet Sixteen party.
She wracked her brain but couldn’t think of what Patience could’ve put in that box that could ruin her life. Patience didn’t know her secrets. No one did…well, only one person, and he wouldn’t tell a soul. She picked up the cordless phone and dialed the number. She needed to be sure.
