Stinky Is Good In A Garden Of Lies

Agnes double wrapped the warm apple pie. She had gone back and forth as to whether she should go. It had been nineteen years since she’d stepped foot in Patience’s home, and she wasn’t sure how it would affect her. After Patience disappeared, the Landau family rented it to several different families, all of which were kept at arms length and never stayed more than two years. But this couple seemed different. From what Agnes could see, the woman looked friendly; something Agnes needed.
As Agnes made her way up the driveway, she remembered the day Patience received her gift. She practically beat down her door to tell her the good news.
“Can you believe it?” she beamed. “We’re going to be neighbors!”
Agnes smiled at the memory. Patience Landau could, at times, be one of the sweetest people in the world. She took a deep breath and made her way to the porch.
“Yoo-hoo.” Agnes yelled through the tattered screen door.
