Stinky Is Good In A Garden Of Lies

It would be good to break free of her life; start fresh. She felt the heart charm around her neck. It had always given her hope for her future. Now that was gone. But she couldn’t throw it out. Patience knelt over the loose plank and dropped the necklace inside.
Her body was loose, just the way she liked it. A loose body and a free mind made for an enjoyable journey. She threw her cash bag in the front seat and moved to the trunk and quickly tossed in her other bags. She didn’t know why, but she suddenly had an urgency to get out of Greenstone.
“Going somewhere?”
Patience fell against the wall. Her heart pounded wildly. “What is wrong with you? You scared me half to death! And for the record, it’s none of your business. And how did you get in here anyway?”
It had been so easy to slip in unnoticed. She was as oblivious of people around her as she was her surroundings. Dayna had stood in the shadows and watched them. She felt sick and confused. Each time she asked Xavier about her, he brushed it off, said they were just friends. He lied, that much was obvious. Neither one of them would get away with lying to her.
“How long have you been seeing Xav?”
“Dayna, you’re so stupid.” She laughed. “Xavier is the least of your worries. You need to be on the look-out for what my dear brother has. One day it will all come back to you…in a flash of light!”
Dayna was lost. All she knew was, she had to protect her relationship. She grabbed the shovel leaning against the wall and struck her across the arm, just above the elbow. The smile faded from Patience’s face. She dropped to her knees.
“You took an extra dose of your happy pills, didn’t you? Bet you thought I didn’t know about that. Bet right about now, you’re wishing you hadn’t, huh?” Dayna bent down and grabbed her face. “I just want you to know how much I hate you. I think I’ve always hated you.”
